Why Pay Just Once for a Bust Bank When You Can Pay Twice!
“The public could be offered discounted shares in state-owned banks under a “people’s bonus” plan outlined by Tory shadow chancellor George Osborne. In a Sunday Times interview, Mr Osborne said the measure would be a reward for the £850bn of public money used to prop up failing financial institutions.”
BBC News – Tories propose ‘people’s bank bonus’ in cheap shares
In what way is paying twice for a share of a bank in any way a reward.
Public money – THE PUBLIC’S MONEY – has been used to buy/bailout tjis bank to the tune of 37 billion pounds, which, indecently, was just supposed to be a loan (what ever happend to that fact?), and yet the public are expected to waste even more money buying the bank again?
Why do the tories think this is a good thing?
Root goes round and round
So, for the past two days I’ve been tying to root my adroid g1 phone. This would give me, in theory, the ability to install sofware meant for other regions, tethering, and much more fun stuff. It all started so simply – a quick google search revealed countless sites, each having howtos or step by step guides on how to root the original goolge phone.
Unfortunately it wasn’t untill after I’d tried flashing the firmware with a hackable Android rom image, that I discovered that having the German Android os on my phone meant that it was abot 20x harder.
Thia didn’t stop me, of course, and due to about 5% perciverance and hard work, and 95% luck, and various intermediate versions of Android, I thought last night I’d ended up right back where I’d started, with the German Aqndroid 1.6.
But no! Today I realised that I’d actually ended up with either the US or UK version of Android 1.6. This should, in theory, make rooting easier – I just have to work out if I have the US or UK version!
Have just realised that it’s probably the us version due to the two anguage options in the settings being English and Spanish!
School Budgets cut by 750 million UKP
BBC News – Schools urged to save £750m costs
So, not only is this government handing the adults of tomorrow unbelievable large debts, they are also cutting the amount spent on their education.
Maybe someone should inform them that two wrongs don’t make a right.
Local Government does nothing (as usual)
BBC NEWS | UK | England | Berkshire | Lorry hike bid by dump developer
“The development of the site has been fought by the community for many years over concerns about health, noise and traffic.
In March, the council decided not to go to the High Court to try to block the project.”
So, the people of Maidenehad don’t want this developmen, and the council can’t be bothered to do anything about it.
Have the councilers forgotten who voted for them, or are they too busy counting their backhanders?
New Wordpress
Having upgraded to the latest version of Wordpress, 2.8.4, I’m mightily impressed by the speed increase. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems to run a lot smoother than the previous version I was running, version 2.7.?
The JavaScript menus are very, very smooth and nice, and the methods for installing new plugins and templates is all integrated, allowing you to search by theme, tags, popularity, searching and so on.
New Sounds…
It’s been a good few months, Muse, Placebo, New Model Army, Lacuna Coil all released new stuff!
All we need now is PJ Harvey and Nick Cave to make a Perfect Year!
Birthday Time
Our guinea pigs, Luki and Toni are one year old this month, so we obviously have to get them a birthday present. What do you give a guinea pig who already has everything?
I’ve already built them a new house, and they have lots of things to play with as well. They evern have a small tent to play with.
Ideas on a post card!

Upgrade failed!
The upgrade to Wordpress 2.8.4 börked, so I had to reinstall from scratch.
Time to start again, again!
I thought computers were supposed to make things easier!
